FAA officially turns on GPS-WAAS system

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officially turned on the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) of the Global Postioning System (GPS). WAAS will provide precision approaches similar to an Instrument Landing System (ILS) to thousands of general aviation airports that don't have them today.
